Lafite @ Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
Let me discribe the dining floor...
Designer Adam Tihany -- the mastermind behind the interiors of Spago and Le Cirque -- gave this traditional French restaurant a modern, New York-style interior. The circular main dining area is walled in by floor-to-ceiling silk-taffeta curtains strung with crystal balls; the dramatic centerpiece is a green-glass culvert that catches water falling from the ceiling. Christofle designed the champagne flutes (they can be detached from solid-silver bases), the candelabras, and the menu holders.
Chef Frederic Chabbert began introducing his provocative yet traditional French cuisine to Malaysia through Lafite in 2004. Well-versed in the cooking styles of all forms of French cuisine, he has worked in many Michelin-rated restaurants in Europe, including the renowned 3-star Michelin restaurant Le Louis XV, Monaco, where he had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of working with Alain Ducasse. Hailing from Toulouse, Chef Frederic specialises in Southern French cooking.
I "guess" this is what I ate...
Porcini Soup and Ricotta Gnocchi
Finger of Foie Gras, duck tongue with Black Winter Truffle Sauce (something like that lah)
Maine Lobster and ShellfishBlack Ink Pasta and Tomato Concasse, Coral Sauce with a Light Garlic Flavour
Lamb with lemon parfumed sauce with Baby Romaine Salad Hearts and tomatoes (I forgot the actual name of this dish)
Cheesecake ice cream with raspberry (Chef gave this dessert a super long name, I can't recall)
Warm Coffee Sabayon
Petit Fours
Wine wine and more wine
My review on this glamorous chick restaurante..
The ambiance is really really good for those who would like a romantic dinner for two. You can hug lar, French kiss lar, do all your mushy mushy stuff in there and nobody is bothered to give you a funny face ahaha. To those who wanna choke your gf with a diamond ring in the creme brulee wishing she will say "I DO", this is the place to be. I'll give it a 7/10
The service is not what I expected to be. For the price you pay, I was expecting a waiter standing by our table at our service during the entire dinner. BUT NO! We have to lift our hands high and show armpit hair to get assistance, refilling our wine and also reminding the waiter that we ordered orange juice just 15 minutes ago!! 3/10
The Food ..ok lar but nothing to shout about but thumbs up to the Foie Gras Pate and duck's tongue.. 5/10
After the dinner, we had a gift exchanging session..
My number was "Blessed No#1", I received a pair pink Snoopy feet warmer and a cookbook. Thanks Caryn! Muacks...

Finally, your new "house" allows me to post some comments! And shit, wish my annual dinner was at LaFite. My menu at the Shang Ballroom is as follows:
Four seasons
Fake Sharksfin soup
Brocolli & Mushroom
Fried Rice & Fried Fish
Tongsui & Cheesecake
And it's suppose to cost Rm160 per pax!
Gahhh... now i'm green with envy! :p
Not a Blogger yet, but I guess someday soon I will be one if I continue to add comments on other peoples profile... I am a regular at Lafite but never really had a critical loot at the decor..but its nice ..will give is 7 .... I think if you are hired as a food critique in KL you will fail every restaurant in town.. A 7 will do more justice to Frederic :) ...and as for service, hmmm I guess you are right even me whos a regular have to lift an arm to get attention!
