A crispy secret

After years of experimenting in the kitchen, I realised that I've did alot of silly things over the stove. Some accidental secrets are a keeper because the dish turns turned out great. Once I was actually frying some chicken strips but I ran out of cooking oil. The only oil available at my kitchen was crisco. So I melted the lump of oil to fry the chickens instead. Well, it turned out the chicken was crispier and tasted even better. After the meal, I checked on the Internet and found out that it was a norm that people actually uses crisco for frying. But that day, when my friend asked what's the secret to crispy chicken, I told them I used cisco. They were so shocked to hear that. Later, I realised that it was actually my typo error. I used Crisco and not CISCO. :p

Change of interest?

I love shopping but lately, I tend to get a little lazy to drive all the way to the mall. I used to go shopping every weekend. With or without a shopping list in hand, I'll just walk and walk to pass the time away. Lately, I noticed that I'm buying my groceries from those tiny little shops near by my house more often than the hypermarket or malls. If possible, I wanted someone to deliver my stuff right to my door step like how the supplier delivers our office supplies to our offices. I wonder what's wrong with me. Change of interest or age is catching up :p

One of my favourite fruit

Besides strawberries, there's another fruit I couldn't live without. Persimmons! Whenever I return to my hometown, mom would usually stock up the fridge with these bright orange coloured fruit. Some like it soft but I like it crunchy.I'm so obsessed with the fruit that I believe if one day, if given a chance to stay in a country where Persimmon trees can be planted, I think I'll plant my own fruits!

Dressing up for the big day...

The relatives are very excited about our wedding this coming December. We receive emails from uncles and aunties offering their help and I believe we're so blessed and loved. On my last trip back to Ipoh, I noticed that everybody was discussing about what to wear. The ladies were thinking of wearing an evening gown for the wedding reception and the gents were talking about tuxedos . I should've mentioned "smart casual" in the invitation card... hehe..

So much to remember...

Tick tock, tick tock, the wedding day is approaching and the days are getting more and more stressful for the X-T and I. The first thing we noticed about each other is we tend to forget things easily. Be it a task that we need to do or things we need to bring or buy at the supermarket. We just forget! Well, we did program it in our PDA and guess what? We even forget to check our PDA when we arrived at the supermarket. How lei? Not that we can do a memory upgrade like a computer. :(

Saying goodbye to the cash voucher from Korean BBQ Chicken

Once there was a franchise Korean BBQ chicken restaurant at Ara Damansara. X-T and I used to go there very frequently for their char grilled chicken sandwiches. There was a time, they even gave us a RM5.00 cash voucher for our next visit to their restaurant. Before the raya holidays, we had a sudden cravings for their char grilled sandwiches again. We brought along their cash voucher to the place and was surprised to know that the restaurant was no longer there. As for the voucher, we're not able to redeem our meals from other outlets except the one at Ara.. sad...sad....

Home improvement before moving in...

Our apartment is ready but there are still some minor details or add-on that X-T would like do for the unit before we move in. Yesterday evening, he suggest we should buy ourselves a proper sound system for the living room since we love hanging out at home watching DVDs. Next, he thinks the bathroom faucets are kinda old and he wanted to change it too. Well, guess it's gonna be another shopping weekend for us again!

Gadgets..gadgets..gadgets...

How time flies and soon we're going to celebrate Christmas. This year is going to be extra busy for me because I've to get the Christmas presents earlier this year since our wedding falls on the same month. In fact, I'm already starting my Christmas shopping now.. yes NOW! Well, I did some research over the Internet and I found something very interesting to give to the boys. It's called the Slingbox. I wonder if this works in Malaysia... Mmm..

First I tried the game and now I'm addicted...

X-T's passion for badminton has infected me. He plays with his badminton buddies on Saturdays. After the game, I would hear him talk about the new skills he learned, the moves, the speed, the type of shuttlecock and also the rackets. I was thinking, why not I try learning the game since there's a badminton court at our new place? I stopped stepping on my elliptical for a day and asked X-T to take me to the court. Guess what? I never stop playing since that day...

Audemars Piguet?

I was reading TheEdge few weeks ago while X-T was surfing on the lappy. Suddenly, I said, "Hey dearie, Audemars Piguet looks smart hor?". He turned his head and say "Auder Piqu who??". I repeated "AU-DE-MARS PI-QUET the watch my dear!". Haha, I bet he was thinking I was commenting on another rich business tycoon's face on the business weekly newspaper again. Yes, I always do :p

Tis the season to be jolly...

FAT...lala... lala..lala.la...la. It's weird how we Malaysians celebrate it. Whenever a festival is coming up, the first thing in everybody's mind would be what to eat. Where to buy food, how much is enough and what's nice and what's not. To me, celebration is a time to where we can sit together with our family and friends to fellowship but no, what to serve was placed as the TOP priority in every celebration. Well, in any parties, of course there will be food served but it shouldn't be the main superstar for the day. Do you or do you not agree with me? Mmm.. I bet everybody will be talking about the diet pills they're going to try out once the celebration is over.

The Roach & I

Whenever I see a roach, my whole body turns weak, my heart beats faster than usual (maybe I should strap on to a pulse oximeter to check the speed of my heart beat someday) and I felt like I want to faint. When the roach and I meet, I'll be screaming for help. X-T would usually be the hero, running towards me with a can of aerosol. Of course he'll be laughing as he approach me. If you think I'm such a weakling, let me tell you why. It all started when I was only 5. I went to the loo and I saw 2 roaches playing inside the toilet. I wasn't afraid of roaches at that time but as I begin to pee, the 2 brown devil decided to craw up my 'you-know-what' as I pee. That's how my phobia started... :(

Scary truck drivers

Last Friday, X-T and I drove all the way to Ipoh for our pre wedding photo shoot. We enjoyed the highway ride all the way to my hometown but the horror starts the minute we arrived at the Simpang Pulai Toll. The trucks are driving so fast and I believe their trucks are empty. Not only that, they cut queues without giving the driver in front and the back a signal. If and only if I'm the transport minister..ahem...I shall sent them all back to truck driving school !

The cute kid with itchy hands

As X-T and I was enjoying our dinner one day, we couldn't resist watching a cheerful little boy sitting next to our table. Well, he is around 3 yrs old, big eyes, brown hair and very spiky too. He was holding on to his daddy's hand phone and he was reminded not to drop it. As he was happily pressing the buttons on the keypad of the phone while chewing on a spoonful of rice, suddenly, he shouted "Oh ho"!. Right away, the dad took the phone away from him and and sighed. Apparently, we heard the man telling his wife that their son has pressed on some numbers and now they need someone who can unlocked cell phones to unlock his phone.

Time to pack up..

100 days left before our wedding day and I've tons of things to pack. Well, the new place is ready for us to move in but the problem for me are the stuff at my current rented house. Since I was very much involved in baking for the last 2 years, I bought alot of baking equipments, pots and baking trays of all shapes and sizes. I checked my storeroom the other day and was shocked to see some college textbooks sitting in two huge boxes! I'll selling the textbooks to the second hand bookstore but how about the rest of my things? Sigh, I'm wondering if the new place is able to fit all my belongings :S. If not, guess I would be setting up a jumble sale soon.

Can I be honest with thee?

I love hanging out with friends and catching up with old time buddies but one thing that annoyed me m0st is whenever the 'friend' started to SELL. What do I mean? Well, I'm talking about friends who take every opportunity to to push me into joining them in their MLM businesses, buying policies which I already have or lately someone even pushed me into signing up for a ecommerce merchant account. Well, no offence to those of my friends who are doing successfully in whatever they're doing 'part time'. I know whatever you're doing brings income. I don't hate money and love the returns but at times, can we just put 'business' aside and just talk about the stars and the moon intead? Urrghhh!

What is a cat tree?

Last weekend, I went to my friend's birthday party and it was a blast. It was filled with laughter and fun. The best entertainer that night was actually their 2 yrs old son. We were amazed by his ability to talk and even to his mom's friends whom he met only once. He's not shy at all and he was quite a good host I would say. While I was chit chatting with the adults, he came over to me and told me that he bought his mom cat trees for her birthday because he knows his mom loves cats and he told me that cat tree would be the best gift for her and her little kitty cat named Smooches. Such a lovely little munchkin eh?

There's a SEASON for everything...

Strange but true! Last year alone, I guess I've received at least 9 wedding invitations throughout the whole 12 months. I could make it to some and missed a few as it clashes with my weekend family dinners and grand parent's birthdays. So, last year was a wedding season I guess. You may asked.. so how about this year? It's baby booming year! Woah, everybody is calling me to inform that they're either pregnant or they're on confinement. So, last year was 'red packet' season to all the newly weds. As for their baby showers this year, I guess I'll be busy shopping for baby's crib bedding as presents. Phew! Thank God for mega sales... :)

Wines for our wedding...

Nowadays, wine are one of the most common drink served in weddings instead of hard liquor. We are currently searching for red wine for our wedding but since we're not an expert when it comes to wine selection, it's not easy for us to spot a good one. We're hoping to join a wine of the month club to get us familiarise with the different types wine before making our selection for the big day.
