Fried Assam Laksa

'Asam laksa' is a sourish fish(mackeral) based soup. It's best eaten with think rice noodles and of course this dish will never be complete without a spoonful of 'hae koe' or thick sweet blackish prawn paste. Yummms! It's a common 'street food' here in Malaysia and the most popular place to get the best Asam Laksa is from Penang Island.

As I was roaming around my neighbourhood last weekend, I discovered something I've never even heard before. Stir Fried Asam Laksa. I dare myself to actually order the unique dish. It's actually thick rice noodle fried with asam laksa spices and sweet prawn paste. Surprisingly, it tasted heavenly.

Oh, by the way, the stall owner said I should try his Penang's famous duck egg stir fried kuey teow. He stopped serving the dish because nobody seems to fancy the dish here in Kuala Lumpur. Anyway, he promised me that he'll fry me a plate on my next visit but I'll have to bring my own duck eggs :)
