I love the hand I'm holding....

A picture tells a thousand words

I was bored to "death" yesterday afternoon until I came across some interesting articles and one of them captured my attention...

"To hold someone’s hand is to offer them affection, protection or comfort. It is a way to communicate that you are off the market. Practically speaking, it is an efficient way to squeeze through a crowd without losing your partner. " said John M. Grohol, Psy.D. October 6, 2006

“Holding hands remains a sign of intimacy between friends and lovers, couples and family, keeping two people together as they navigate the world around them. It as powerful a gesture today as it was two hundred years ago.” -New York Times

Even if you don't subscribe to the theories, I think you can tell a lot from a hand offered or indeed the response from a partner. A firm, enthusiastic grip is a good sign, any indication of hesitancy or even repulsion are pretty obvious signs that something isn't right. As with most aspects of relationships, nothing is ever as clear cut as people would have us imagine.

L'abeille says "It's sad to know that nowadays, we tend to hold on to our handheld devices more than the hands of our love ones..."
